Christmas Morning at the Barn
Christmas morning at Unicorn Stables was filled with warmth, generosity, and happy horses. Several of our wonderful staff members volunteered their Christmas morning to ensure all the horses were well fed and cared for. After chores were finished, everyone enjoyed a delicious breakfast with friends, lovingly cooked by Tammie’s husband, Dave. It was a truly special morning, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who came out to help and share in the holiday spirit.
Holiday One-Day Camp
We also hosted a fun and festive one-day holiday camp! Campers learned how to properly groom their horses, participated in a riding lesson, and created a New Year’s–themed craft. Afternoon campers enjoyed games such as blindfolded “guess the school horse,” along with learning in-hand techniques with their ponies. Throughout the day, riders built confidence, horsemanship skills, and friendships while spending quality time at the barn. It was wonderful to see both new and familiar faces enjoying a day full of learning, laughter, and holiday cheer.
New Year’s Jump Clinic Weekend
Our New Year’s Jump Clinic ran from Friday through Sunday and featured our super fun cross-country jumps. Riders had many great rides, gained confidence, and took advantage of valuable learning opportunities throughout the weekend. It was so much fun having everyone out and starting the year off strong.
Up & Coming Events
Jane Stone Clinic | January 23–25
Jane joins us regularly throughout the winter and spring, helping riders and horses stay sharp and on track with equitation science. Riders always leave these clinics with valuable tools and a deeper understanding of their training. Auditors are welcome. If you’d like to come watch and learn, please reach out to the office for more information on auditing options.
One-Day Camp | February 20
Our upcoming one-day camp is perfect for riders looking to spend a full day immersed in barn life. Campers will participate in stable management, grooming, riding lessons, and fun crafts, while learning more about horse care, safety, and horsemanship. These camps are a great way to build confidence, make new friends, and enjoy time with the horses, no matter your experience level. Spots are limited, and camps fill quickly, so please reach out to the office early to secure your place.
We look forward to a fantastic season ahead and can’t wait to see everyone at the barn! 🦄
A Special Thank-You Gift
Coach Tammie surprised our boarders and staff with beautiful new elastic belts embroidered with the Unicorn logo. We can’t wait to see everyone wearing them out and about this season; thank you, Tammie, for such a thoughtful gift!
Birthday Girl: Willow
We also celebrated a very special birthday: Willow turned 13! Willow, Coach Tammie and Dave’s dog, is still as cute as ever and always keeps everyone on their toes. She may be little, but she loves exploring the big world and remains a beloved part of Unicorn barn life.
🐎School Horse of the Month - Billy
We’re excited to continue our new feature, School Horse of the Month. For January, we’re highlighting Billy. Billy has been at Unicorn Stables forever, starting as a youngster and progressing up the levels of eventing with his previous partner, Meagan. As a young horse, he was quite fiery and loved adding a little excitement to his rides. Now one of our older guys, Billy has settled into his age while still keeping things fun. He still lives with his longtime friend Kermit and can often be seen playing in the paddock with him. Billy may be the perfect horse for you in our weekly lesson program or leasing program!
Here is what one of Billy’s past leasers, Cole, has to say about his experience with Billy:
“Billy was the first horse I ever rode at Unicorn 5 years ago, and I’m so grateful I get to continue riding him despite moving on to lease a different horse. I’ve had all my big “firsts” with Billy, from my first canter to my first show and he is a big reason why I’ve continued to be so deeply in love with riding throughout the years. Although I was only able to lease him for a year, we packed that year full of as many activities as possible, where I discovered both his and my own love for cross country! It’s been an amazing experience growing as a person and as a rider alongside such an incredible, patient, and gentle horse.”
Thank you for reading our January 2026 Unicorn Stables update. For questions about lessons, leasing, or other riding programs, please contact the office. We look forward to sharing more with you next time!
