As we head into spring, March has been a wonderful month at Unicorn Stables! From clinics and camps to celebrations and achievements, it’s been so special to see our community come together, support one another, and continue to grow both in and out of the saddle. This month’s highlights include:

🌟 Working Equitation Series
We kicked off March with a Friday evening of Working Equitation lessons, and it was fantastic to see how much our riders have improved. The team continues to make amazing progress, and it’s been especially lovely to welcome some new faces as well!
🌧️➡️☀️ Spring Break Camp
Spring Break Camp was a big success! We had a wonderful mix of returning campers and new riders joining us. Even though it was a rainy week, we were lucky to finish strong with sunshine on Friday. All of our campers and volunteers did a fabulous job, and it was great to see so much teamwork, learning, and laughter throughout the week.
☀️ Summer Camps Filling Fast!
Summer is just around the corner, and spots at Unicorn Stables summer camps are filling up fast! Whether your rider is just starting out or looking to level up their skills, our camps offer a fun, supportive environment to learn, grow, and make great memories at the barn. Don’t wait too long: last year’s camps filled up quickly, and we’d hate for anyone to miss out.

🎉 Coach Tammie’s Birthday Celebration
Coach Tammie celebrated her birthday on March 21, and we marked the occasion with a fantastic jump clinic running from Friday, March 20th, through Sunday, March 22nd. Riders rose to the challenge and rode incredibly well all weekend. It was inspiring to see everyone step up, push their limits, and support one another. What a great way to celebrate! We finished off Saturday with a tasty dinner and cake at Tammie’s home!
🏅 Boundary Bay Pony Club – Regional Quiz
We’re very proud of our Unicorn riders who participated in the Boundary Bay Pony Club Regional Quiz. Everyone came home with ribbons, and they even brought back a trophy! Amazing work to all involved. Your dedication and horsemanship knowledge truly shone.
🐴 School Horse of the Month - Sugar
Our March School Horse of the Month is Sugar!
Sugar is one of our beautiful blue-eyed mares and will be turning 25 in April, making her the oldest mare in the barn (but don’t tell her that… she still thinks she’s a yearling some days!).
She has always loved jumping, and while she’s taken things down a notch over the years, she still enjoys popping over little cross rails with her beginner riders.
Sugar has been owned by Coach Cassidy for over 13 years and is truly her heart horse. Together, they competed up to the Prelim level, and now Cassidy loves seeing Sugar share her experience by teaching new riders every day.
Here’s what Coach Cassidy has to say about Sugar:
“Sugar is truly an amazing horse! I always felt so confident out on the cross-country course, and we always had a blast together out there. She’s always been a keen girl, and hasn’t let her age slow her down. It’s so rewarding getting to see her riders enjoy her now as I did for so long. She loves getting to come out to work, be fussed over, and show off her tricks! Although she has a tendency to be quick, she is so safe and takes great care of her beginner riders. She really helps people build up their confidence in their weekly lessons.”
As we look ahead to the warmer months, we’re excited for more riding, learning, and fun at the barn. Thank you to all of our riders, families, and volunteers for being such an important part of the Unicorn Stables community. We couldn’t do it without you! 🦄
